This short, interactive tool is comprised of four elements:
GradSelect Elevate will present you with questions that align with skills essential for success in business school. You’ll have a few minutes to prepare, a few minutes to answer, and two opportunities to re-record your response. Click here to see a sample of questions you might encounter. Common types of questions include:
Situational judgment questions: what actions you would take when confronted with a hypothetical situation
Past behavior questions: share past experiences and challenges you’ve faced
Scenario-based simulations: instead of explaining your experience, you may be asked to simulate or act out your response to a hypothetical scenario
In the GradSelect Elevate experience, there are two elements in your insights report: game challenges and interview questions. Games assess how you interact with and process information. Interview questions assess how you communicate, the content of your message, the meaning in your message, and the emotion you express.
Once we have your responses, we use an algorithm to identify patterns that could lead to success in graduate business school. Each of the algorithms we use is scientifically validated and designed to identify and remove bias.
The Elevate experience considers the whole context of a response, not just certain words here or there. The algorithms do not take into account age, race, gender, your clothing, video background, or whether you sneezed or stuttered. Only the content of your responses is taken into account when creating your feedback.
Schools will only be made aware that you have completed Elevate and shown an aggregated range of your general performance, such as X, Y, and Z. This is calculated based on the average scoring across each competency measured with the tool, across working with people and your working style/personality. They will not have access to your videos or your insight report results, but by opting in to GradSelect and completing the assessment, you will be signaling your commitment to b-school preparation.
