jackie.jpgMeet Jackie DiMonte: current part-time weekend MBA student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Jackie's undergrad major specialty was General Engineering with a Control Systems concentration. Jackie's dream career is to take on a strategic role in growing technologies companies. Why Business School? "I always knew I wanted to go back to school after undergrad, I just didn’t know quite what I wanted to study. Field Trip 2: Destination Post MBA > Friday, February 26 | 1pm EST

During this virtual field trip, you will meet  Allison Smith, Yelani Naranjo, and Damaune Journey, all of whom are MBA alumni with engineering backgrounds. They will walk you through their journey from engineering to post MBA business leaders.

ASmith_Profile.jpgMeet Allison Smith: from the University of Iowa, Tippie School of Management, class of 2015. Allison's undergrad major concentration was Biomedical Engineering. Now she is a Senior Consultant in Healthcare Strategy at Kurt Salmon. Why Business School? "I went to business school for a couple of reasons.  First, I didn’t have the opportunity to take many business classes as an undergrad – they kept us plenty busy in engineering!  I wanted to better understand finance, marketing and strategy. I also wanted to improve my communication and leadership abilities and be able to move into a more managerial position eventually.  Last but certainly not least, I love learning and couldn’t pass up the opportunity offered to me at Iowa."

Yelani-2016.jpgMeet Yelani Naranjo: from the University of Florida, Hough Graduate School of Business, class of 2015. Yelani's undergrad major concentration was Electrical Engineering. She is a Product Manager at Dell on the Software Marketing team responsible for a Dell developed software application for product registration. Why Business School? "As an Electrical Engineer at Motorola Solutions, I was initially doing the design and testing for the hardware components but my scope began to expand to leading cross-functional teams and doing project management. I loved working in tech and on new product development, but wanted to move from engineering to marketing which is what led me to pursue my MBA. In particular, I wanted to move in to a product management role to solve a gap in understanding the customer and market needs and developing a strategy and product roadmap to translate those marketing needs in to technical engineering requirements."

Damaune_Journey.jpgMeet Damaune Journey: from Harvard Business School, class of 2005. Damaune's undergrad major concentration was Industrial and Operations Engineering. Now he is the Vice President of Security Solutions at ShotSpotter. Why Business School? "I believe business and government are the two external factors that most impact American life, and business school was the best way to gain a better understanding of  business so that I could have an impact on the lives of others.  With the critical thinking and problem solving skills gained through engineering (and the comfort with technology), the missing component for me was how to bring ideas and solutions to market to positively impact the world.  Business school helped to bridge that gap for me and give me credibility to assume more authority in organizations to make decisions that impact others."
